Join the Ottawa Police Service for an afternoon of fun at the NHL Alumni/Law Enforcement Charity Hockey Game in support of Special Olympics.
WHEN: December 17 at 2 pm
WHERE: Pinecrest Recreation Centre, 2250 Torquay Avenue
Proceeds from the match go to Special Olympics Ontario, which has been dedicated to enriching the lives of Ontario athletes with intellectual disabilities for over 50 years through sport. Special Olympics programs empower athletes to pursue their full potential, while creating an environment of cooperation, collaboration, dignity, and inclusion.
Event co-organizer Matt Cox says the OPS team has been practicing hard and are ready to play. “It’s not about winning or losing, it’s great opportunity to see some of your favourite NHL players while supporting such a worthy cause,” he said. “Special Olympics gives athletes with intellectual disabilities a chance to be active and to reap all the other benefits that come with playing organized sports, like teamwork, sportsmanship and comradery.”
Police Services across the province support Special Olympics Ontario with fundraising events year-round, like the Torch Run and the Polar Plunge.
