Work is now underway to restore the historic Centennial Garden at Village Green Park in Rockcliffe Park. After more than a decade of preparation, the community-led project will renew the historic landscape originally designed by Humphrey Carver in 1967 to commemorate Canada's Centennial. Improvements include redesigned pathways and the central gathering area, new benches, native plantings and a third commemorative stone representing Nunavut. The project is supported by $405,937 in Ward 13 Cash-in-Lieu-of-Parkland funding, along with a $150,000 City of Ottawa Major Capital Community Project Grant, matched by community donations. Construction began in August 2026, with substantial completion anticipated by the end of October 2026.
