Enforcement of on-street parking limits to resume

Starting Monday, September 21, the City will resume the enforcement of parking in excess of time limits in all areas of the city, including those that are not marked with signs.

Parking limits in unsigned areas are three hours, Monday to Friday, between 7 am and 7 pm, and six hours on weekends and statutory holidays, between 7 am and 7 pm.

Initially, parking control officers will issue warning notices to vehicles that are parked longer than the allowable time limits. Officers will begin to issue tickets on Thursday, October 1.

Enforcement of overtime parking on streets without posted signs will only occur on a complaint basis. More than 1,000 complaints have been received citywide regarding vehicles that have not been moved in a significant time.

Parking enforcement ensures safety, traffic flow, emergency vehicle access and parking space availability as services begin to reopen and normal traffic patterns resume. It has also become necessary to resume the enforcement of overtime parking on residential streets in preparation for snow clearing operations during the winter months.

All other parking restrictions remain in effect, including no-stopping zones, no-parking zones, fire routes, accessible parking spaces and rules around sidewalks, driveways and fire hydrants. Parking restrictions continue to be enforced in areas with Pay and Display machines.
