Temporary Beechwood Avenue Bus Detour

Beginning on Monday, July 22nd, 2019 construction to replace the sanitary sewer and some short sections of watermain will commence on Beechwood Avenue between Springfield Avenue and Douglas Avenue. The work is required, in order to repair several structural defects in the sewer pipe, which was originally installed in 1947. To facilitate construction, temporary bus detours of OC Transpo buses will be necessary to maintain bus services in your community. As a result, buses will be detoured from July 22 to August 2 (tentative date).

Who:           Ottawa Greenbelt Construction Limited has been retained by the City to replace the sanitary sewer pipe.

Why:           The temporary OC Transpo bus detours are necessary to facilitate the construction activities.

What:          Bus routes no. 7, 17, 19 and no. 6WB (Greenboro) will be detoured onto St. Charles, Barrette and Charlevoix Streets.

Bus route 20 will be detoured onto St. Charles, Barrette, Charlevoix, Laval Streets.

Bus routes no. 6EB (Rockcliffe) will be detoured onto MacKay Street, Ivy Crescent and Putman Avenue.

Bus stops within the road closure will be temporarily relocated.

On-Street Parking
On-street parking will be restricted within the construction zones and along the main detour route on Ivy eastern leg (east side) from MacKay to 30m north, St. Charles (east side) between Laval and Barrette, Charlevoix and St. Charles (both sides) from Beechwood to Barrette, Laval (south side) from Charlevoix to 30m east, Barrette (north side) from Loyer to 40m west, Beechwood from Springfield to Douglas.
