Updated Community Safety Data Portal

The Ottawa Police Service has launched a significant update to its Community Safety Data Portal, giving residents a clearer and more accessible way to explore local safety information. The update reflects community feedback and a renewed focus on helping people find and understand the data that shapes public safety conversations in Ottawa.

Public use of the portal continues to grow. It’s served more than 100,000 users this year, more than double last year, driving more than 350,000 page views.

Residents can view these new changes by visiting data.ottawapolice.ca.

What’s New:

  • Redesigned crime map: A streamlined map that is easier to navigate and search. Residents can explore citywide and neighbourhood safety trends with improved clarity and simpler tools.
  • New Calls for Service dashboard: A dashboard that shows the calls police respond to by priority level across Ottawa. It offers a clean, at-a-glance view of demand and police workload.
  • Updated analytical dashboards: All dashboards now follow a unified design standard. The result is a cleaner, more consistent and more accessible experience for users.
  • Expanded reports section: The reports area brings resources together in one place for faster, easier reference. Residents can access year-to-date safety indicators, historical citizen perception survey results and external audits and inspections.

These updates demonstrate the Ottawa Police Service’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and community engagement. OPS will also be sharing a coordinated series of posts on social media to highlight the new features and tools now available.
