Get involved in your city: join an advisory committee

A diverse group of people are standing against a brick wall. In a white and purple text box reads: "Get involved in your city. Join a committee."

Make a difference in your community by volunteering on one of the City of Ottawa’s advisory committees. The City is recruiting residents to be public members on the following committees:

  • French Language Services Advisory Committee
  • Planning Advisory Committee

These volunteer positions are opportunities for qualified residents to provide their expertise, knowledge and lived experience to advise on the City’s work.

Who is eligible? You must be a resident of Ottawa, at least 18 years of age or older, and not an employee of the City of Ottawa. There are additional requirements for certain positions on the Planning Advisory Committee: three members must be in specific relevant professions, and other members will be selected from urban, suburban and rural areas.

Ottawa works better when its committees reflect the diversity of people it serves. The City encourages Indigenous and racialized people, people with disabilities, and women and gender diverse persons to apply and share their voices and unique perspectives.

How to apply: Use the online form available at ottawa.ca/committees.  Alternate application formats are available upon request.

Applications must be submitted by Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 4:30 pm.

For more information or to submit your application, visit the Join a committee or board page. You can also watch a recording of a virtual information session(link is external) from the previous recruitment drive for a brief overview of the process and the steps to apply (note that the application period for the previous recruitment drive has now closed).
