Community Garden and Community-led Green Initiatives Review - Community Consultation June 20 and 25
**Virtual Open House expressions of interest due by June 16 and 21
This review has two phases, during which recommendations will be developed for a functional framework and governance for community gardens and similar green projects on City-owned land. These suggestions will be shaped by internal and external assessments and community engagement analysis. A report to Council is planned for Q4 2024, and in the second phase operational standards, processes, and internal and external structures will be developed and refined to support the implementation of the governance recommendations for community gardens and similar green initiatives on City-owned land. This phase aims to be complete for the 2025 growing season.
The review includes public engagement. An Engage Ottawa webpage has launched where feedback can be submitted until July 7, 2024. As well, there are two focus group opportunities as part of the public consultation process.

Additional community engagement events will be hosted in the Fall 2024 to inform the implementation of the framework, for the second phase of the review.
There is also a Virtual Open House opportunity. Join a Virtual Open House by participating in the Community Voices segment! The City is looking for individuals to share their ideas and experiences on community gardens and green initiatives in Ottawa. You can present casually or formally for 3-5 minutes. Interested? Submit your expression of interest by Sunday, June 16 at 11:59 PM for the Community Gardens Event, or by June 21 at 11:59 PM for the Community-led Green Initiative Event.
