Council anticipates declaring a vacancy in Ward 20

Council today prepared to declare the Office of City Councillor for Ward 20 (Osgoode) to be vacant in accordance with Section 262 of the Municipal Act, 2001 in anticipation of Councillor George Darouze’s resignation or deemed resignation following his election to Provincial Parliament.

Council directed the Office of the City Clerk to report back to Council at the March 26 Council meeting with information on a by-election delivery model for Ward 20. Council also approved interim delegations of authority for Ward 20 matters to Councillor Catherine Kitts and Councillor David Brown, as well as relevant City staff, to take effect following Councillor Darouze’s resignation or deemed resignation.
