Even though the heat warning has ended, the extreme dry conditions continue in Ottawa due to a prolonged period of below-average rainfall and hot temperatures. The rainfall currently forecasted is not significant enough to remove these dry conditions.
During extreme dry conditions, expect water levels in our smaller rivers and other waterways to be lower than normal. There is also a greater risk of fires due to dry grass and brush. Residents must follow the open air fire ban restrictions and practice extreme caution outdoors and on their properties.
