Montreal Road Revitalization Update

This is this week’s update for the Montreal Road Revitalization project.

Work planned for March 8 to 13:

  • Montreal Road from Vanier Parkway to de L’Eglise Street: Hydro overhead utility works and burial works (various locations). Eastbound and westbound lanes will remain open but may be reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 am and 3:30 pm. Pedestrian access may be limited within the work zones and detours will be implemented as required.

  • Construction work on watermain connections is also required at intersections along Montreal Road between North River Road and Marier Avenue. The work is scheduled to occur between March 8 and March 13 and take up to 24 hours to complete at each intersection. The construction will require night work and side street closures. The night work (10 pm to 7 am) is required to limit daytime disruptions and impacts to services including water and transit. Residents and businesses directly impacted by water shut-offs will be notified 24 hours in advance.

Crews have started or will be starting work at the following intersections along Montreal Road beginning at North River Road and proceeding towards Marier Avenue. Sidewalks will remain open except as noted below:

  • Montreal Road at Montgomery Street
  • Montreal Road at Palace Street
  • Montreal Road at Durocher Street
  • Montreal Road at Kendall Avenue
  • Montreal Road at Savard Avenue
  • Montreal Road at Cody Avenue
  • Montreal Road at Cyr Avenue
  • Montreal Road at Hannah Street
  • Montreal Road at Olmstead Street South – Requires east side Olmstead sidewalk closure
  • Montreal Road at Marier Avenue – Requires west side Marier Avenue sidewalk

Note: unforeseen conditions and/or construction issues may arise that will require extending the March 8 to March 13 work schedule. Any changes will be communicated.

Work planned for March 16 to 20:

  • Montreal Road from Vanier Parkway to de L’Eglise Street: Hydro overhead utility works and burial works (various locations). Eastbound and westbound lanes will remain open but may be reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 am and 3:30 pm. Pedestrian access may be limited within the work zones and detours will be implemented as required.

  • North River Road from Montreal Road north to the cul-de-sac: Start removals and sewer construction. North River Road will be reduced to one lane with flag persons. Access to side streets and entrances will be maintained as the work permits. Pedestrian access may be limited within the work zones and detours will be implemented as required.
