Montreal Road Revitalization Update

This is this week’s update for the Montreal Road Revitalization project.

Please find below a two-week update (May 4 to May 15) for the Montreal Road Revitalization project. Both this week and next will focus on working at the Vanier Parkway/Montreal Road and North River Road/Montreal Road intersections, including:

Montreal Road/Vanier Parkway intersection: Crews completed the cut and cap of the existing watermain and installed new pipe in the center of the intersection along Montreal Road. Over the next two weeks, new watermain will be installed on the west and east sides of the intersection. Traffic will be impacted on both the Vanier Parkway and Montreal Road requiring lane reductions. Pedestrians will be detoured around the intersection as work progress.

North River Road/Montreal Road intersection: Work is continuing through the intersection including construction of underground traffic signals and street lighting duct. The road box on the south end of North River Road to Selkirk will be completed in the next two weeks followed by construction of curbs in all four quadrants of the intersection.

North River Road from Montreal Road to cul-de-sac: Houses fronting North River Road will be set up on temporary water services starting next week. This will allow crews to decommission the existing watermain and start construction of a new watermain. Water shut-offs will be communicated 24 hours in advance with notices dropped off at houses.
