Photovoice project for youth

The Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre has a new and exciting project for youth in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward 13. The Centre is looking to recruit five to eight youth. The Photovoice project is for youth who are Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Colour and interested in learning photography. Those who join will have the opportunity to learn about storytelling through photography and how photography can be used for self-expression, as well as learn to sharpen their photo-taking skills for social media. The program will start at the end of January with a virtual workshop followed by four two-hour walkabouts. During the walkabouts, participants will get the chance to practice their photography skills. All of these sessions will be led by an industry expert, Craig Conoley, a photographer, producer, and video director. At the end of the project, each youth will have three of their pictures printed and exhibited at a gala/vernissage that will bring together the project participants from across the City to celebrate their work. Youth interested in participating are invited to contact Mijanou Gravelle by emailing [email protected] or calling 613-745-0073, ext. 209.
