If you could name a snowplow, what would you name it? The City's Public Works Department has launched a Name the Plow campaign.
Each winter, City of Ottawa snowplows and their operators clear and treat over 13,000 lane kilometres of roadway, which includes Highway 174 and the Transitway, to help keep Ottawa moving during the winter season. Clearing that much distance of snow is like driving from Halifax to Vancouver (and back) in a snowstorm! I think our hardworking snowplows deserve to be name.
Kids under 16 are invited to help name them. Submit your name ideas at Engage Ottawa https://engage.ottawa.ca/name-the-plow or call 3-1-1 or drop by one of the City's client service centres by Sept. 30.
The final 24 winning names (symbolizing the City's 24 wards) will be announced Oct. 24.
