On Tuesday, September 30, from 9 am to 1 pm, Rideau Hall will host a Sacred Fire for the community. The Sacred Fire ceremony will bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous people together to honour the thousands of lives lost or traumatically impacted by the residential school system. The Sacred Fire will be led by apprentice Fire Keeper Sheldon McGregor, from Kitigan Zibi, and will be open to the public. Beginning with an opening ceremony of approximately 45 minutes, the fire will then be tended to throughout the morning to encourage reflection. Visitors wishing to participate in the opening ceremony are asked to arrive in time for a 9:00 a.m. start. Please note: Photographs are not permitted out of respect for the sacred and ceremonial nature of this event. Details: www.gg.ca/en/visit-us/rideau-hall/events/sacred-fire
