Notice of Licensing Review of Payday Loan Businesses & Request for Comments

The City of Ottawa’s Emergency and Protective Services department (Public Policy Development branch) is currently reviewing the effectiveness of establishing a municipal business licensing regime for payday loan establishments, as directed by Council. This review is part of a joint project with the Planning, Infrastructure and Economic Development department, which has launched a Minor Zoning Study on Payday Loan Establishments.

Statement on Inclusionary Zoning & Heritage Concerning Bill 108

Rawlson King, Councillor for Rideau-Rockcliffe (Ward 13), made a statement to the Standing Committee on Justice Policy on Bill 108 (More Homes, More Choice Act) before the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The statement urges the committee to reconsider the proposed changes to the power of municipalities over inclusionary zoning and heritage.

Update on Rental Accommodation Regulation Study

Rawlson King, Councillor for Rideau-Rockcliffe (Ward 13), invites the public to participate in the Rental Accommodation Regulation Study. This new study will provide Ottawa's City Council with recommendations concerning existing City by-laws, as well as new policy areas such as potential regulations for landlords and short-term rental accommodations.
