One of three community sports projects in Ottawa has the opportunity to secure $100,000 from the OSEG Foundation, including the vision of establishing a Vanier basketball court. In partnership with Prezdential, a social enterprise that is dedicated to bridging the gap faced by disadvantaged youth in Ottawa, the Vanier basketball court project would create accessible outdoor basketballs spaces that remove barriers to access for youth in this community. Prezdential and Rideau-Vanier Councillor Stéphanie Plante, with support from the Vanier BIA, my office, the Snowsuit Fund and the Ottawa Basketball Network, are hoping to develop a parking lot behind the Bernard-Grandmaître Arena into a basketball court. Vanier currently does not have outdoor basketball courts from Montreal Road to McArthur Avenue. The project to receive the most votes will secure an OSEG community grant.
